Scheduling an Appointment

New and returning patients can schedule at both our Hicksville and Stony Brook locations. Same-day consultations available when possible.

Patient Portal

The easiest way to reach us is by text at (516) 822-7546, seven days a week. The Belaray patient portal (MySecureHealthData) is used only in a limited way, most often to send you a letter when a biopsy result is benign. It is not used for billing (that is a separate bill-pay page), detailed pathology reports, or secure messaging, and any result that needs discussion is handled by a call from the office. Please do not send sensitive information through the portal; text or call us instead.

If you need to access the portal: log in at MySecureHealthData. First-time users register with the same email address the office has on file, receive a validation code by text, then confirm their date of birth to activate the account. See the full step-by-step portal instructions, or text or call (516) 822-7546 for help.

eVisit (Telehealth — NY Patients)

Established Belaray patients in New York State can use eVisit for appropriate follow-ups, prescription refills, and non-emergency dermatology concerns without coming to the office.

Insurance Information

Belaray Dermatology participates with most major insurance plans at both the Hicksville, NY and Stony Brook, NY offices. Insurance companies sell many different plan products under one brand name, so participation can vary by the specific plan on your card. The lists below show where things usually stand. Please verify your specific plan before scheduling.

Generally In-Network

We participate with most plan products from these carriers. A quick verification call is still a good idea, since individual plan products can differ.

Medicare (traditional)
Aetna (incl. Meritain)
Cigna (commercial plans)
United Healthcare (commercial plans)
Oxford
Fidelis Care / Ambetter (all metal levels)
GEHA
MagnaCare
No-Fault / Workers' Comp

Varies by Plan: Please Verify Before Scheduling

For these carriers, participation genuinely depends on the specific plan product and network printed on your card. Check with your plan (see the self-service options below), or call or text us with your card handy and we will check for you.

Empire / Anthem Blue Cross Blue ShieldMost PPO and EPO plans are in-network, but several specific products are not (listed below). The network name on your card is what decides.
Medicare Advantage plans (all carriers)Participation differs plan by plan across Aetna, United/AARP, Anthem MediBlue, and others. Many HMO plans also require a referral from your primary care doctor.
HumanaPOS plans are generally in-network. Humana HMO plans are not accepted.
EmblemHealth / GHIGHI plans are generally in-network. HIP plans are not accepted.
1199 SEIU & union welfare fundsParticipation depends on the network your fund uses for its medical benefits.
PHCS / MultiPlan (self-funded employer plans)Coverage depends on the underlying network your employer's plan rents. Many of these plans are not in-network, so always verify first.

Check Your Plan Yourself

The fastest and most reliable ways to confirm coverage before your visit:

  • Most accurate: log in to your plan's member website (printed on the back of your card, next to the member-services phone number) and search for "Belaray." Once you are logged in, the provider search is filtered to your exact plan and network, so the answer applies to you specifically.
  • Call the member services number on the back of your insurance card and ask: "Is Belaray Dermatology in-network under my plan?" Have them confirm the office you plan to visit: 358 S Oyster Bay Road, Hicksville, NY 11801 or 2500 Nesconset Hwy #20B, Stony Brook, NY 11790. That number routes to your specific plan product, so it is always the right one to call.
  • Search your insurer's online provider directory for "Belaray" or your provider's name, and confirm the listing shows your office's address. Direct links to the major directories are below.
  • Or let us check for you: call or text (516) 822-7546 with your insurance card handy.

Two things worth knowing: EPO plans usually have no out-of-network benefits, so verifying first matters most if your card says EPO. Some HMO and Medicare Advantage plans require a referral from your primary care doctor before a dermatology visit.

Healthfirst patients: Belaray has been out of the Healthfirst network since May 2026. Read the full Healthfirst coverage update for your options, including self-pay and advocacy resources.

Not sure about your plan? Call us at (516) 822-7546. Cosmetic procedures are not covered by insurance.
